Other characters: Tommy, Reeve, Lauri-Ell, Lark
Reserve: NOPE
Referral: Me Myself And I?
IN-CHARACTER:
Character name: Gladiolus "Gladio" Amicitia
Character journal:
ziedrich_bearer
Series name: Final Fantasy XV
Canon notes: Gladio comes from the Canon-AU established in Episode Ignis, and is taken from just before Noctis has his final confrontation with Ardyn
Species: Human
Age: 33
Arrival Condition: More or less healthy, just a bit battered from fighting daemons but nothing that won't heal quickly
History: Canon History
-The above is valid as 1-to-1 identical to game canon until the Altar of the Tidemother in Altissa.
-After that it's The Canon AU (the first paragraph only).
Additional AU Notes
-The intervening years between these, the time of the 'Long Night' found Ignis confessing after Noctis entered the crystal just what the gods had decreed for the True King. From that moment on the companions of King Noctis resolved to try and find a way to lift the darkness on their world without Noctis bearing the only weight of it.
-Gladio does work with the Hunters during the Long Dark to help protect what lingering bastions of humanity there were, even while working on the plans with his friends.
-Helped his sister become an even more skilled fighter to also be a great Hunter
-Worked with Cor to train new Glaive and their protection of Angelgard while his team kept working
-Became a bit more familiar with and trusting of Ravus during the time of the Long Dark.
Personality:
Flirtatious Loyal
Hard Headed
Protective
Driven
Abilities: Canon Abilities Basically Gladio's a highly competent fighter that has been trained from his childhood as a protector of the royal line. This ultimately means he is:
-A master level fighter with a Greatsword (often some as large as he is), even able to wield them with skill one handed
-A master level fighter with a Shield (though this is mostly for defensive and blunt force attacks, and never thrown)
-Uses enough force with his blows to create small shockwaves
-Low level skill with elemental magic gifted to him as a retainer of the Lucian Kings (will not be able to access it here without additional item gains)
-Survival skills expert, including skilled at hunting animals and foraging for useful items
-Summoning of items stored through the Power of Kings (This basically means that weapons he has acquired he can store in something like a magical hammerspace tied to the Lucian kings. So long as this bond is not actively blocked, he can store weapons and supplies and summon them to his hand. Both sending them away and summoning them has things temporarily appear to be made of blue crystal that either shatters when sent away, or is gathered together and fused when summoning. This is not an inherent power of his, but rather something created through being bounded to King Noctis.
Personal Item: The Hyperion Greatsword, accessible through summoning. No other weapons or gear is accessible to him through that power.

Personality:
If Gladio finds a person attractive, there will be flirting, no question. Even when his charge is around, Gladio will still focus to a degree on a lovely person, trading back banter and doing his best to learn about a person. This can lead to conflict between himself and his friends when he makes moves on people that others don't have the confidence to approach, particularly with Prompto. Gladio knows he looks good, knows people appreciate the whole package that is his body (though not enough for his mind really), and he is not afraid to use that to his advantage to get himself some companionship, temporary though. One day he will have to settle down to find a wife to continue on his family line, so for now he's rather focused on enjoying himself.
Loyalty has always been the watchword for the Amicitia line, ang Gladio shows it through and through. While as a young man he doubted the value of his future charge Noctis over the value of the boy's father, Gladio grew to have an undying loyalty and belief in Noctis. While at times he gets into arguments with Noctis, he accepted leaving his family to go where the Prince (and King) needed him, and always had faith that Noctis would one day return. Most of the time this means he doesn't question the King, and if ordered to do something, he will oblige unless it means severe risk to his charge. From his birth to his dying day Gladio will serve the line of Lucis, and he will not abandon that, even when he doesn't like where that path leads.
When Gladio makes his mind up about something, it can be very hard to sway him from that position, a stubbornness that is beneficial in a fight to protect those he has sworn himself to, and harmful in other situations. This has led to a good deal of conflict with Noctis over the years, including seeing the Prince as worthless and not worthy of Gladio's oaths, which was was not swayed from until Noctis protected Gladio's little sister and took the blame for a mistake she made. He's also gotten into fights with Noctis about duty, judging Noctis for what he felt to be a failing in doing his royal duty and shirking the responsibilities that come with it. There are times this even leads to him getting physically forceful, even with his charge. Usually the best way to sway him from this sort of behavior has been a sharp word or tone from Ignis, but sometimes even Gladio comes to realize he's been too hard and needs to bend or he and those around him may break.
Trained to serve as the personal bodyguard of a king, and being an older brother, effectively means that Gladio's protective instincts are kicked up to eleven. Gladio will readily throw his body between perceived danger and not only those he's sworn to protect, but anyone he cares about. This can lead to serious disagreements because there are those he wishes to protect who can just as easily take care of themselves, but he insists on putting himself in front of any possible danger.
While it is the traditional duty of the Amicitia line to be the sworn Shields of the royal line, to even reach the level of one generation to see the next as worthy of the title can be a lifetime of hard work. This resulted in Gladio starting into martial arts young, weapons training by thirteen, and a member of the Crownsguard by 18. His skills became more than enough to turn the martial training of the Prince over to him at a young age, which meant Gladio had to be competent in a wide variety of weapons to even begin to teach. And later, when he felt like he might not be worthy enough to serve as Noctis's shield, he even went off on his own to prove it. Of course doing this meant he went to face Gilgamesh in battle, an encounter only one person had survived before, and Gladio actually won. That drive carried him through the Long Night and helping to find an answer to save his King from his fate, not to mention hunting daemons to protect the survivors of humanity.
